Compost Turners

Nufad industries have been manufacturing agricultural and industrial equipment in W.A. since 1978. Windrow Compost Turners have been manufactured since 1997. All components are sourced from within Australia, and are readily available.

3PL Trailed Compost Turners

There is approximately 40 compost turners operating in all states of Australia, New Zealand and several units in the Oil Palm Industry in Indonesia. Delivery is normally 6 weeks from order.

  • Due to price rises, the build quality of the machine and an expanding industry, Nufab compost turners usually retain about 80% of value.
  • Nufab has extensive hands on experience in helping to set up compost facilities and training operators (particularly in Indonesia.)
  • The machines are extremely robust – even operators with very little machinery experience don’t break them!
  • It is absolutely critical that the correct type of tractor is used for compost turning – Refer to Specifications.
  • Due to extensive research in the rotor design, the Nufab compost turner uses less horsepower than most other turners, has much longer tip or tyne life and produces excellent aeration and windrow inversion.
  • The irrigation system is far superior to other machines. The efficient application of water has a huge effect on operating costs.

Self Propelled Compost Turners

Nufab also manufacture self propelled compost windrow turners. These units have very low operating costs in comparison to imported machines. The nearest unit is near Avalon Airport in Geelong, Victoria.

  • This unit is a self-propelled version of our large tractor drawn machine.
  • This unit is powered by a 125H.P Turbo charged 4 cylinder engine and is totally hydraulically driven.
  • It is mounted on rubber tracks (as used by skid steer loaders) and has an air conditioned cabin.
  • It can be loaded from a ramp or loading ramps sideways onto a 6 tonne flat top truck and transported “in gauge” (not oversize).
  • No preparation for transport is required.
  • As there are no roadways for the tractor between windrows, the volume of compost on the compost pad is doubled. In any compost facility, the cost of the pad is the major capital cost, due to the number of pads required, simplicity of transport, and the availability of tractors with ‘creeper gear’ .
  • This machine has been designed for simple transport, particularly for multiple site users, such as cotton gins, farmer groups, local Councils and the Oil Palm Industry. Due to the rubber tracks, a lower standard of pad can be used.
  • The hose reel is also a highly recommended option.
  • The total cost of this machine is slightly more expensive than a towed turner / tractor combination, but is far more efficient.

These critical factors (along with good management) produce quality compost quickly and efficiently.
